Rafael Leao is apparently on his way to Galatasaray and preferred them over the PL and Aston Villa. It’s a very significant loss. We really need his skills and speed and are still looking very mediocre in the wings of our attack! There must be something wrong with our negotiating tactics if we cannot convince a player like Leao to prefer AV over Turkey, where players go to die.

In other news we're now in for Mbaye... You couldn't make this transfer window up.

2.) 28 Aug 2026 19:44:59
Leao just wanted stupid money, that's why he chose Galatasaray. Great news if we can sign Mbaye, but on Sky Sports news they were saying that Liverpool were after him previously and that they should try and hijack the deal.
They were saying that Liverpool have hijacked a few signings recently, and that any player would prefer to go there than anywhere else.

Talk of Alejandro Balde to Aston Villa. What do you guys think?

We have 2 left backs already, unless Ruggerri has been bought to play left centre half? And they want £50M for him.

UTV.

2.) 25 Aug 2026 12:14:05
Do we really have two? Maatsen is such a disappointment!

23 Aug 2026 14:22:44
Get Marco Asensio back now! And someone like Diaby!

Some people keep writing about how it will take 2 years to rebuild and refresh the team, causing lackluster rankings in the meantime. Keep in mind though: if we don’t qualify for Champions League again this season, players will leave the club again. We will then have lost the advantages and improvements we’d just achieved and will have entered a vicious circle!

You are right in a way in saying we need CL football, but getting any European football is a must, albeit the Conference League. We are now below SCR regs, which is a good thing, and was needed badly, otherwise we would have been in the right dodo.

NWSE, DV and Emery are doing wonders on this. We have been spoilt over the last few seasons, so, if anyone has a moan about our transfer dealings, truly know nothing about football.

Digne, Dillermans, Rogers. We couldn't even keep Austin MacPhee. Any other disloyal defectors? Amputated team heading into a CL season. Why are people so eager to leave? What's wrong with the organization? Sure we can get Garnacho, Sancho and a few other faulty players and with a bit of luck all will be good while the big teams thrive and AV fans will have to test their loyalty once again. Sure the nets and grass will be there come start of the season?

That's £160M in fees received (minus M'boro's cut) & I'd say around £400K in wages gone per week minimum (more if you count what Sancho would've been on). I think we're sitting pretty. More players will join, & they'll be Emery players, icing on the cake would be getting Endrick.

What on earth are you talking about?
I sense you may be a known poster on this site trying to be mischievous.
I wonder who, though?

Who was it who claimed Moussa Diaby would never return to European soccer … due to tax issues? Would very much have loved for him to return to AV! Good price even. Was he not monitored on the highly advanced Emery radar?

Why do you keep banging on about a player who didn't want to be at Villa? He didn't like Emery's class work, didn't like living in Birmingham, didn't like being on the bench.

He just wasn't happy at Villa. We didn't even make a profit on him; he was sold because he didn't want to be here. We have 11 new players. Concentrate on those instead of moaning about nothing.

2.) 03 Sep 2026 17:26:24
I said England, not Europe, which is why I used Henderson going on loan to Ajax as my example. And Diaby *didn't* return to England.... So my "speculation" hasn't even been disproven...

Agree, Whack.

3.) 03 Sep 2026 21:03:34
100% neb.., I remember your comment about Henderson and Ajax, and totally agree.

I would of liked to move Tammy on and bring in another striker instead of him. I think, had he left, we would of signed Balogun, but we didn’t. We done serious business. I might not of wanted Jackson, but he’s who we have now.

I’m going to support him, and give him the chance to prove himself instead of moaning about players we didn’t buy. My only real gripe with our business is Garnacho. Maybe he will prove me wrong, he is young after all, and Emery might just get him firing.

4.) 04 Sep 2026 08:19:52
Diaby had to be moved on for financial reasons back then.

5.) 04 Sep 2026 08:18:19
@whack: what are your sources for claiming "Diaby didn't want to be at Villa? He didn't like Emery's class work, didn't like living in Birmingham, didn't like being on the bench." Do you know Emery or Diaby personally? I did some research and found nothing to support your claim? On the contrary found very positive statements about Diaby's work and Emery being happy with his work, his training, and what he achieved together with Watkins

6.) 04 Sep 2026 14:13:26
Not claiming anything, just referring to what he said in interviews after departing. His partner hated every minute she spent in Birmingham, to top it off. Also, what Emery said when questioned after selling him without profit after such a short stint, and your claim about financial reasons makes no sense whatsoever, seeing as we only broke even, actually lost money on him if you take his wages into account.

I don't know why you keep changing your name to come on here moaning. Different name, same negative comments. The answer to your other question is yes, I know them both very well. Emery is a good drinking buddy of mine and I went to school with Diaby.

Signing Mateta at that cost will be a steal. Get him on board. Don’t want another season with lack of effective strikers and we will be playing so many matches and suffer injuries and exhaustion.

Substituting Jackson for Abraham tonight was like substituting Jackson for no one. We definitively need an additional highly functional striker, such as Mateta or we’ll lack goals all season. Jackson can’t play all the time in multiple tournaments.

Would Federico Chiesa be a good addition to our squad? Still believe we need some more Spanish and Italian blood on our team…

Been rubbish any time I seen him play for Liverpool. I'd rather see an extra CB brought in and maybe another striker option.

What a boring attack if someone like Leao or Diaby isn't joining! We need better dribbling skills and more creativity IMO.

We desperately need to boost our attack. A center forward like Jackson is insufficient. Last year, we also had significant problems with unlocking tight defenses. We need dribbling skills.

Also watched it and loved it. Great tip. SJM is a good role model and of great value to our club, and he's one of the players who hasn't been compromised or damaged by success.

We definitely need one additional high quality striker who actually scores goals... and we need him before the deadline. Also, for injury reasons, we need backup. Can't reebreed Tammy, and he looked completely lost against Arsenal.
