I’m told that as part of the Konsa negotiations, we asked about the possibility of taking Nwaneri on loan, however, Arsenal wanted guarantees about game time which we weren’t prepared to commit to. We have also had an initial enquiry from Brighton for Bogarde as a potential replacement for Baleba.

Rafael Leao is apparently on his way to Galatasaray and preferred them over the PL and Aston Villa. It’s a very significant loss. We really need his skills and speed and are still looking very mediocre in the wings of our attack! There must be something wrong with our negotiating tactics if we cannot convince a player like Leao to prefer AV over Turkey, where players go to die.

Leao just wanted stupid money, that's why he chose Galatasaray. Great news if we can sign Mbaye, but on Sky Sports news they were saying that Liverpool were after him previously and that they should try and hijack the deal.
They were saying that Liverpool have hijacked a few signings recently, and that any player would prefer to go there than anywhere else.

Villa have saved cÂŁ50m gross a year in salaries in players sold or loaned out this summer.
I’d be amazed if the net saving on salaries wasn’t close to £15m a year.
This was clearly an objective during this window.

We desperately need to boost our attack. A center forward like Jackson is insufficient. Last year, we also had significant problems with unlocking tight defenses. We need dribbling skills.

Missing out on Ordonez would be a big loss, in my view. Can't say I'm overly impressed by us being linked with 2 centre-backs from relegated clubs. Whilst we can't necessarily shop at Harrods, we should be able to do better than Poundland. 🤔

Looks like you may have hit the nail on the head, 74. Ordonez is off to Palace. The only thing I'd say is Ordonez is currently injured, so it would be 4-5 weeks before he's even fit again.
I don't know. What a transfer window this has been, and not in a great way so far.

I believe in Emery to kick-start our season, but not until after the Arsenal game. I think the team will need to gel under the boss, and then, hopefully, do like last season but with a younger squad.
