One of the dads have contacted a fan group to try and sort it out, so embarrassing though, even at their age what goes through their head to think that’s appropriate.

Seeing we have a couple of future Kings supporting our illustrious club, do we follow the Spanish tradition and now call ourselves Real Aston Villa? 🤪.

Just found out, the Wolves have got my seat, for the cup . Don't like it .

Are we giving them a bigger allocation? Good if the club to make it free to season ticket holders, I know they’ve done it the last few years, first home game of the cup and all but were 3 rounds in and a local derby, so fair play to them for still making it free.

So at what point do we accept mediocrity as totally acceptable. I hear we haven't been outplayed, fair comment, I hear refereeing decisions have gone against us, again fair comment. I hear too many unforced errors, fair comment, I hear give the manager time, again fair comment, so we keep going until January accepting mediocrity, at which point it's too late, so let's us fans let the owners and management know we are here to support them, however this can't be unconditional and the message has to be, we are Aston Villa and failure is not an option with all of the money that has been invested.

As it was their money that was invested, surely it’s there decision what is or isn’t an option?

These are business men who have built their business on success, I would imagine "it's their view" as well that failure is not an option. Perhaps I'm wrong or stupid, and if things do fail they will keep pumping money in.

Pointless going on about it scotty, I think you said 5 games.
So let's see how things are after those 5 games.
All of this only breeds discontentment on the terraces, media and the club itself.

This is getting ridiculous to be honest. We stay up this season and next season the same people will be wondering why we aren't winning the league.
The 'massive' spend averages around 10mill a player, you rarely get world beaters for that sort of money.

To tell you the truth, lads, I did believe that it would be 2-2 or at least a tie between Aston Villa and Burnley, and I think that it's a fair result. I still think that we will get 6 points in our two next games against Norwich and Brighton. Come on, Villa!

From the teams promoted the only team who you'd better on staying up at the moment is Sheffield United, did they spend as much as us, no, do they have more technically gifted players, no, do they have a better incentive package for winning, no, - for me the main reasons are Chris wilder would rather buy a player who fits a team first ethos, he has made sure they are super fit and everyone knows their job.

he also realised that not changing his squad too much by buying too many new players which have to integrated, he also realised that those who got you promoted deserve their chance first, -the premier league is world renowned for being fast-flowing, gruelling end to end football for a full 90 Minutes.

it's also known that in this league you give the ball away too much you get punished, these are not secrets to anyone, so how come we aren't fit enough to play 90 minutes even now, God help us come January onwards, we can't keep the ball and make too many individual mistakes-we're not a team yet, and that is the fault of our coaches, some on here say stop having a go, he's 'one of us' - You're incorrect:

Firstly, he's our manager and that's it, he's to be judged on that alone, and he's failing, wrong captain, wrong system, and no wrong judgement calls at crucial times, and all these things can be remedied through extra training sessions and hard work, but for me we've bought too many players who are great individually, but not team players, unless dean of shallows his pride and changes his system then he's gone in the next 5 games if that-we've no time for sentiment unless championship football is what you want next season.

Very harsh 82, I understand its your view, but way too damning at this early stage.
No wonder the divorce rate is so High, people have no tolerance or patience anymore.
If you can't have it now, stamp your feet and sulk.
Trust me things will change, give it time.

We had no choice to go out and buy quite a few players as we didn’t have a squad left at end of last season. give them a chance, and we will get to the level we need to be.

Class of 82 I do agree with you but we win together we lose together if we sack dean smith who do we get better?

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Sep 2019 21:33:21
I agree, Classof82! I thank Smith for guiding Villa back to the Premier League.
But I think that we should keep him until the next five games, which are against Burnley (h), Norwich (a), Brighton (h), Manchester City (a) and loserpoo (h) .

The 4-3-3 formation isn't working, I believe that is the biggest problem right now.
With a different one like 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2, 4-3-1-2, 4-5-1 or 4-1-2-1-2, it would've worked better in the long run.
And also if either Jota or Grealish is used as a centre attacking midfielder instead of winger and midfielder respectively, that would probably be beneficial for Villa.

As of now, I think Chester would be a better captain than Grealish with Engels as vice-captain.

If Smith doesn't change the formation and collect a minimum of 7 points the next five matches, sorry, then I think he should leave.

So, there's a rumour emanating from the hallowed halls that some people aren't happy with how things are going at the moment-eyebrows were raised after the first game against the spuds when Deano was giving his after-match interview and commented on how much fitter they were compared to us? -that apparently didn't go down well, I'm not saying he's for the high jump double quick lively, but that if things don't improved coming up to Crimbo, then to coin a phrase "It's nothing personal it's business" comes to mind- before the usual mob on here start cranking and talking about it being only 4 games in, new squad gelling, it would make no sense-what a ridiculous thing to say-just get behind the manager-call yourself a fan and say something like this-blah blah blah-fair enough, but just because you don't want to hear it DOESN'T mean the conversation hasn't taken place-so endeth this transmission -UTV.

Im starting to have 2nd thoughts on deano we need to have a plan b and c i'd rather play ugly and win / i'm not saying get rid at all for me we need a jose to take us to the nxt level, yes we will prob stay in the league, but 150mil spent on 2 good players and the rest not good.

19 Sep 2019 20:42:10
4eva, why would you have second thoughts about Deano what has he done to make you feel like that, he is learning like everyone else mate.
And can I ask, if you are not saying get rid, why are you asking for a Jose to take us to the next level?

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Sep 2019 06:30:31
Jose is a clown now and you'll never see a youth player near the team.
We've gone from "Bruce out due to winning playing ugly" to "I'd rather see us playing ugly and win".
This proves how impossible it is to please our fans.
Also, regarding there being no plan B or C, we have ended the last 2 games in a 442/ 424 which is more change than the majority of teams make. Very few teams change much of anything from one game to the next so why is it always a problem for us? Give the players a few games to actually know the system and each other to a good level for crying out loud.

Villa dave because jose has the tactical nous to get us higher up the league and would kick the players backsides and he's a winner deano seems to nice to me, his job at man u wasnt that bad they were just bad eggs at united 3 trophys and finished 2nd not bad with a shocking united team, i'm not saying i want deano gone i'm just saying in my view i think we would be better under jose, any1 that says they wouldn't want jose as manager is deluded if there was a chance to get i'd jump at it, and plus if were still where we are by xmas i can't see the owners are going to be very happy u want the best for your buisness don't you, i like deano he's done good getting us up but i think jose would take us a lot further with his know how, just my opinion that's all,

Jota has shown he has lots of ability, but he is just not physically strong enough . Last night time and again, he was easily pushed off the ball . Taylor has improved, since last season, but again, I don't think he is good enough . Defensively he is much better, his problem, is when he crosses the half way line . Perhaps now is the time, to give Hause a try . He would add a lot Defensively and he certainly has the the ability.

Mings was right to tell, El Gazi about his defensive, frailties. Going forwards no problem, but he certainly needs, to be more switched on Defensively.
Four games with new squad, we know that time is needed. But this is Premier League and you have to learn quickly.

Well fellow villa fans what's the thoughts on the game tonight.
West ham will be dangerous up top that's for sure and this haller is a serious player.
Mings and engles need to be top of there game.
For villa I would like to see marvellous come in to stiffen the midfield.
We are to easy to play against in my view.
Especially in midfield.

Luiz is a class player but he needs marv with him in my opinion.
El-ghazi is very hit and miss let's hope tonight it's one of his better games.
Jota I like up top and he has a good bonding with wesley but he will get caught out when west ham counter attack.
He does not track back.
Gilbert is my personal favourite player from our new signing but I've got a feeling Smith could bring back Elmo.
I hope not .

We must get in there faces from the off and not let them dictate the game.
But I'm hoping for a win but I can see west ham scoring.
2-1 will do for me with hopefully wes getting another goal to boost his confidence.
Got mings to score the other .
West ham are very dodgy from set pieces and can see him scoring from a corner.

I wouldn't bring back Elmo i'd stick with Guilbert though agree with Marvellous.

I think we need to solidify our midfield and get points on the board rather than playing 4-3-3 as i think we are too vulnerable and concede too much possession.

My view is i would ply 4-3-2-1 with Douglas, Marvellous and McGinn, then Jack and Jota, with Wesley upfront. that's how i think we could get more success in the short term. We can then use our wingers as impact subs.

Just my opinion, but i trust DS.

The anti villa camp in the ref association has hit a new low. For Mike Riley to come out and say there have only been 4 mistakes with VAR and obvious errors and Jack's 'dive' to not be one of them is nothing short of scandalous.

{Ed001's Note - the whole thing was a joke. There were loads of obvious ones they missed. PGMOL protecting its members rather than doing its job.}

Hi Guys, the way i understand it is that VAR could not get involved in this decision as the referee had stopped play.

If he hadnt, the goal would have stood after VAR review.

I think what this shows is that play needs to be continued beyond a possible VAR intervention rather than the referee just stopping the game. However, how can this by appropriately implemented?

Lee.

{Ed001's Note - they could get involved with the decision as it should have been a free kick on the edge of the box to Villa. They are making up nonsense as they go to protect the incompetence of their officials. The goal would not have stood, but you should have had a free kick or possibly a penalty, depending on where it was decided the offence took place.}

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Sep 2019 18:04:59
Simply put, they are in a position to say 'you got it wrong' and should do. Yes, the ref was a Wally and shouldn't have whistled when he did but the VAR could at least confirm which way the infringement actually occurred ie foul or dive.
I get that they don't want to negate the position of the ref by overruling everything but if you're going to implement it, use it properly.
Get the senior refs in there who don't have the legs anymore and have them properly advise on what the call should be. 2 birds with one stone, VAR does its job and younger refs get effective on the job training.

{Ed001's Note - I have also been saying that they should get older refs in there. But one thing that made me laugh is they have Lee Probert unavailable to referee due to a bad back and they also say he is not fit enough to be in the VAR studio! Surely he could still do that?}

I'd put Dermot in there, his Ref Watch feature on Sky Sports is a good read. His analysis shows that while he's sympathetic to what the ref can see in real time he will still call them out on it.

{Ed001's Note - any of the retired ones. They might have missed things on the pitch, but that is in real time, with a video to watch they should be able to spot things.}
