Most of the posts go to the Aston Villa Banter page.

Now here's a thought.

According to most sources, Jack is currently on 100k per week.
If he gave up half of that for 6 months, that would be about £1.25m (still leaving him with £3.75m for the year) which, by my reckoning would fund about 40 additional healthcare staff for a full year. Now that's what I would call a useful penance for his recent dick-headedness.

That's a good call Menace, it seems you can put a price on stupidity. Also there's an interesting read on Vital Villa titled 'the messiah or a very naughty boy" well worth a read.

Read the article Moose. I agree with Juan Pablo Angels response to it. He is captain of our club and should lead by example not just on the pitch but off it as well. If he is incapable of doing that then he shouldn’t be captain of our great club.
Why should having wonderful god given ability give him a divine right to just do as he pleases. He is a very lucky person to be blessed with such ability, so is this the way to show his gratitude for that?

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Apr 2020 18:09:41
I think therein lies the problem Mark, they may be grateful when they first start out but once they get that big break they're all "Bertie big b######s" and start to feel they're entitled to it. Even some clubs youngsters get more than we'll earn in a month or more ie Uniteds "Baby Bentley brigade " I appreciate that most live exemplary lives on and off the pitch but the captain of our club is its figurehead and good sensible, behaviour is a small price to pay for a very lucrative career.

Great Idea, but Grealish`s wages are nowhere near £100,000
He is on about £35,000 a week MD.
Still worth doing what you suggest, only over a longer period.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2020 17:33:29
Apparently Grealish and Capaldi were pixxed as newts last night and crashed into some parked cars pictures surfacing now grealish wearing a slider and a slipper looking a bit worse for wear so much for self isolating and behaving responsibl irresponsible little twit if true but looking at pictures its definitely him!

If this proves to be true it kind of highlights my view of professional footballers I posted on the banter page : normal rules do not apply or are blatantly ignored.

True Moose. In my honest and humble opinion he is over hyped don't get me wrong he is a decent player but his off the pitch antics overshadow stuff he does on the pitch. Yes he does a lot for people out of football but that is for his own self gratification/ Ego. The lad goes on sunbeds when its half price FACT, That shows the mentality of him. He will end up like Lee Hendrie I will put good money on that. Young children want to follow in his footsteps and be like my message to them is don't if you want to follow role models follow and watch what our NHS is doing these are our real role models and heros.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Mar 2020 11:18:12
I agree Daz they're the real heroes and deserve our gratitude and respect for all they're doing despite the risks involved . I think after all this is over there should be a special day to celebrate their dedication and sacrifice to the cause.

Looks like things are going from bad to worse, looks like drinkwater has flipped, once players start fighting among themselves it is a slippery slope to the drop. More and more papers are commenting on suso and smiths future., once the press wolves pack go a hunting there is usually only one outcome. I think the club is a shambles at the moment and the really sad thing is I can't see any way out of it.

11 Mar 2020 13:34:18
Just read the report Scotty, we are apparently considering terminating his loan.
No need for any consideration at all, just get rid, you can not be doing that, end of.
I see he picked the smallest player, wonder why?

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Mar 2020 17:51:19
The answer is to calm down accept we are going down believe it or not stick with Dean Smith stop panic buying bad players and play are own kids, let’s try and build a team probably not going to happen. Clubs a mess supporters don’t help.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Mar 2020 06:32:58
Stick with Smith have you been on earth mate😂😂😂 not a chance he should keep his job woeful manager he's a championship manager that's his level and if we go dwn he shouldn't be in charge.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Mar 2020 06:56:22
So it's the supporters problem for overpaid players that haven't got a clue and a coach who is even more clueless. Perhaps if we have to play in empty stadiums because of the coronavirus we may be ok without supporters, the mind boggles!

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Mar 2020 10:06:37
I know scotty it's not us the supporters.

Championship here we come.

Can someone explain why when we have an ex England centre half on our coaching staff we can't defend set pieces?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 Mar 2020 02:32:12
Easy- when you have a manager who ignores advice and goes 'zonal 'no matter what, the results literally DO speak for themselves.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Mar 2020 13:36:20
I do get that Classof82 but at the start of the season we were defending better than we are now, same players and yet at the moment it looks like every time the opposition attacks we look like we are going to concede. I could have understood that more if that was happening at the start of the season whilst the new players were bedding in but not now.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Mar 2020 15:04:46
Villa haven't played well in 24 years. Don't delude yourself, Villajohn. Just face it. It's Championship next season. No manager in the world would want to have the responsibility of the club. Wonder why? Maybe because it's the most overrated club in the Premiership, and therefore the most difficult club to manage. I for one see that now. I know another thing. Sam Allardyce isn't the answer to the problems nor is Neil Warnock. Aston Villa is doomed!

{Ed002's Note - John Terry expects to take over until the end of the season.}

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Mar 2020 15:22:25
Well, Terry won't be the answer either. If Villa wins something again in let's say 48 years of time, it wouldn't surprise me at all. That's the state we are in.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Mar 2020 18:31:45
If we are going to get rid of Smith then Terry or Allardyce aren’t the answer I would rather we try someone like Alex Neill at Preston or dare I say it Gary Rowett I think either could do a decent job we don’t want to recycle the same old names.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Mar 2020 01:56:03
H85 are you a villa, villa haven't played well in 24 yrs 🤔🤔🤔and are a overrated club and won't win ote in the nxt 48 yrs can you see into the future. Villa are a massive club 5 most successful club in English history stats don't lie big fan base good stadium quality training ground, just been run poorly since doug, and also ffp has hindered villa spending power with new owners, we just need the right manager and coaches then we will be flying again it's just been a dull 10 years we will bck one day.

All I would like from tonight's game, is 100% commitment, from every single player, nothing left behind on that pitch, as supporters that's what we want, to get a point I think would be a brilliant result, every single point from now on is going to be massive . Team wise I would play Nyland in goal, he likes playing against Leicester, and also when teams, us included start playing out from the back, disasters occur, if in doubt clear your lines . Fingers crossed, commitment, passion, and a little bit off luck you never know .

Believable2 Unbelievable0

09 Mar 2020 14:25:45
I agree Mitch, but I would like the 3 points as well as the commitment mate.
Spot on with the playing out from the back, what a bum clencher that is, especially with Reina and Mings.
More than anything I want 2 up top, we need a goal threat.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2020 17:04:27
Agreed we can’t play out from the back as the players we have are not good enough to do it! I like the idea of 2 up top but I doubt we will. UTV.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2020 18:13:44
Agree Tom and Dave, I don’t think we will, which would be a shame. Leicester like playing it out from the back. If we played Samatta and Davis, they are both players that I think could press their defenders really well and make it difficult for them to do that.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2020 18:14:42
We beat them last time so no reason we can't do it again with their current form.

I see another one of our youngsters is being head hunted by man City and sum of Europe's top clubs want him, we must be doing something right at youth level because a lot clubs want our youngsters, it makes you think why can't they get into our 1st team squad it's a joke there's nothing better seeing a youngster break into our team or squad plus it could save us millions, what is the point in having youth teams academys if we're not going to use them we might aswell scrap them it's a joke youth is the way forward.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Mar 2020 16:03:41
Yeah, its been in circulation for a week now 4eva.
I think come the seasons end, there will be a lot of our youngsters having their contracts looked at and renewed.
I hope so anyway.

07 Mar 2020 00:29:23
4eva You are talking about 16 year olds .

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Mar 2020 07:25:52
Age is a number doesn't matter how old or young it's if your good enough d82.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2020 20:06:25
How many of our youngsters over the last 10-15 years have gone on to play at the top level for anybody?

Clarke and Cahill are the only ones and both played in our first team.
The rest are all stuck in the championship or below (Robinson got the closest when Sheff Utd bought him but obviously didn't make the grade for them).

The youngsters who have been picked off by Arsenal, City and Liverpool previously are never heard of again so clearly not that great they'd make the step up.
The coaches obviously feel there is just too much missing from their individual games (look at Green, we all thought he could be great but just hasn't really developed) .

Maybe they also take into account our fans who will turn on the immediately when they have a bad game because we just don't have the personnel to carry them for a game or 2.

At the end of the day, if you're good enough, you're old enough only works if you are the first bit. What we have in the squad isn't great but any coach would make the move if a kid was genuinely better than the current options.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Mar 2020 21:53:37
Just realised I missed Albrighton out. That's a grand total of 3, all from before our fall from grace, Jack is the only one since then to make the grade.
Top youth sides take high levels of investment to produce 1 or 2 players capable of the step up. Chelsea and City's U23's cost more than some Championship teams.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2020 10:36:08
Admittedly Stevens came to Villa when he was 22 but he’s an example of a young player that wasn’t given adequate opportunities.

{Ed001's Note - he is certainly proving to be a big miss with Sheff Utd. He has been outstanding since signing for them. Good, technical player too, surprisingly good on the ball.}

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2020 11:39:02
It would appear that the Villa owners intend investing heavily in the Academy which imho is the way forward. We can’t keep buying players, who are often well over priced and more often than not don’t come up to expectations. It’s simply unsustainable to continue like that.
Correct me if I’m wrong but I think that any investment in youth academy affairs is not considered in ffp accountability. If that is the case it’ would be a very smart move to go down that route.

{Ed002's Note - You are correct, the FFP accounts exclude academy and infrastructure costs plus other items which typically amount to much less of a cost.}

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2020 15:41:29
Entirely correct Mark. That's exactly what esteemed Mr Purslow said at the Supporter Trust meeting a couple of weeks ago. Monies from HS2 have been invested in the new Academy infrastructure; the Academy has been totally restructured and Mark Harrison (described as a 'brilliant hire') is in the process of transforming the whole academy management structure. This all presumably comes under the umbrella of the club's 5-6 year plan to bring us back to where the owners and CP (and us fans) want us to be on a permanent basis.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2020 18:20:57
As pointed out Stevens wasn't an Academy player.
During his time he had Warnock, Bertrand and Cissokho ahead of him who were better options.

When he got a run he didn't really take it and it took him 3 years in the lower leagues to build up to the player he is.
Some players just don't fit some clubs also. He has a lot less pressure on him at Sheff Utd. Lowton was ok for us but he's thriving at Burnley.
Lee Hendrie was the other way, consistent for us but couldn't get a sniff elsewhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Mar 2020 18:19:01
I’m optimistic that this policy will pay dividends MD, it may take a few years to kick in, hope I’m still alive to see us reap the rewards.

Forget the 1st march as we will have our pants pulled down and our little butts spanked raw by Man city. I will personally donate £50 to the eds chosen charity if we win (You lot will not let me away with that wee bet) . Every team in the land know how to beat us but we change nothing. Dave is absolutely right guys, however I share your frustration, we tend to lash out often unfairly when we are angry and frustrated. We all want our new signings to be successful, however history is not on our side. So give the guy a chance and if it doesn't work blame Smith and others. Based on this season's signings it certainly doesn't look promising and like you guys many enjoyed the championship, my grandson's for definite. My view if we do go down I don't think we have shown enough skil and determination and will be remembered as one season failures and that will take some getting over. Saturday game showed far too many weaknesses and highlighted how opposition coaches have sussed us out. Howe obviously looked how Jack and Targett hurt Leicester down the left, Targett wasn't able to influence the game. We have to be able to change things and I think this is where Smith shows his weaknesses.

The fact is we’ve signed a waste of space in Baston and there's 5yrs of proof to back that up b

If you want to delude yourself into thinking we might have someone (Baston) who might suddenly start playing to a half decent standard anything other than Saturday league then carry on on BUT why you think everyone should be so happy to have such a waster turn up at VP is beyond me!

I beg the footballing gods to prove me wrong but i'm almost certain hat Baston will struggle to play more than 5 full games for us this season let alone score 5gls.
