What is happening with the guy from Marseille?
Thought it was 99% done, only waiting for the player to accept terms.
Villa Boas now wants more, who doesnt?
They have signed Millik and now need money.
Will we go back with another offer?

Theoldvillan

{Ed002's Note - Marseille are waiting for an acceptable offer. It is nothing to do with AVB. It is also unrelated to Malik.}

Hi Oldvillan, its Villa playing silly buggers, he is going cheap and we are trying to get him cheaper.
Pay them what they want, he is a good player and a bargain at the asking price.

2.) 22 Jan 2021 22:58:21
Need to get this wrapped up, pay the £15 million it’s not big money for a high quality player with his experience, I like marvellous and Ramsey but I’d like to have a higher caliber player there especially with maginn missing this week we look short on options, need to get Louie on the bench forget buying a striker, midfield is where the magic happens going forward and protecting the defence.

3.) 22 Jan 2021 23:01:04
Trying to take advantage of the situation. If it comes off and we get him cheaper, it’s a master stroke from Lange, if we miss out on him it’s needless bargaining. Can go two ways.

However the amount of times we’ve had our pants down in the past, I’d rather see us try and get the best deal, after all, there isn’t an endless pot of money.

4.) 23 Jan 2021 11:07:51
Looks like the deals been done at £14 million.

5.) 23 Jan 2021 11:16:20
It’s done. Well, the fee is agreed. But since Joe Bryan I don’t consider any deal done until the photo shoot.

6.) 23 Jan 2021 13:06:35
Very very good point woodsville! Well played Lange for judging the situation and getting the best deal possible for Villa.

With interest from MCFC, Liverpool, MUFC and Arsenal in Jack according to the media, do you think that our interest in Rashica should be stepped up?
His form so far this season has been pretty average by his standards.
Which alternatives are there out in the football world?
Dont think Messi would interested so who else might be willing to come to AV, of course if Jack goes?

Theoldvillan

1.) 27 Nov 2020 15:28:06
If Jack does go then I hope he goes to City as we could ask for John Sones as part of any deal with the remainder of the money I think we should tie up Ross Barkley on a permanent deal, in terms of a left sided midfielder I wouldn’t touch Rashica with a ten foot pole I would be more inclined to try for Zaha from Palace I know he doesn’t fit the age profile but I think he would be a good fit in terms of running at the opposition creating both chances and a goal threat. I would also look at a left back maybe Rico Henry or Ryan Sessegnon ( I know he is on loan but a good offer may persuade Spurs to let him go ) Inspite of all that though I would prefer it if Jack were to stay.

2.) 28 Nov 2020 00:08:46
Zaha’s attitude in every game I’ve seen him over the last two years has absolutely stank. He just wants to fight everyone, acts as though any foul on him is an attempt on his life. Tried to drag Konsa to the floor last season and then when he couldn’t tried to fight him as if Konsa had done something?

Don’t ask me why because I haven’t a clue but I saw Zaha play for palace against Southampton years ago. The year Southampton got promoted, it was at Selhurst Park, Ricky Lambert scored.

And I’ve always remembered right infront of where we were sitting, someone played a pass to zaha, which was probably two foot infront of him, because it wasn’t to feet which is how he wanted it, he literally let it go out for a Southampton throw in, to make a point. From there I’ve always thought he was a bit of an idiot to put it nicely, but the last few years he’s took it to a new level.

Traore confirmed this morning.
Reported on ski.

1.) 19 Sep 2020 08:55:15
Must of read my post yesterday and decided to pull their finger out 😁 also apparently Origi available for £14m certainly worth a punt? Can play centrally or wide and would improve our forward options.

2.) 19 Sep 2020 12:27:21
Good shout Moose, a bargain at that price.

3.) 19 Sep 2020 13:26:03
For 14 million I’d b all over that moose.

4.) 19 Sep 2020 13:37:10
Apparently the BBC are saying Traore is our last bit of business this window unless a “unexpected opportunity” presents itself.

5.) 19 Sep 2020 16:51:57
Utter hogwash, how do they know what our transfer business entails?

6.) 19 Sep 2020 18:57:12
I hope it’s hogwash too Moose, but we seem prepared to accept the rumours they print on the players we are looking to sign quick enough!

7.) 19 Sep 2020 19:42:40
All paper BS, but we follow it anyway in our quest for all things Villa- me included! But we always keep our cards close to our chests, did anyone know anything about the Traore link til it was common knowledge?
We're a bloody impatient bunch 😁.

Glenn Murray for £500000.
He knows where the goal is and use's his brain.
Probably better than any of our strikers, even when they were fit.
Deano lost in jungle of rumoured players, players available, players willing to come to VP.
Are we still being threatened by FFP?
If not why don't the owners do what Man City did and spend the money to get us where they want us to be, top 6 and Euro football.
OR are they waiting to dump Deano to get an international manager before they spend big?

Theoldvillan

07 Jan 2020 15:33:02
Drinkwater on loan.
This means that we cannot get Batman or Giroud on loan as we have the one from Chelsea we are allowed.
Glenn Murray from Brighton would be a good buy for little money. Scores for fun but only in the champs. Will he work in the prem?
Why are we looking at a guy who has scored 2 goals this season?
We need a goal machine now!
Options will expire if we don't action now.
C'mon Deano, show me your intent!

Theoldvillan

{Ed002's Note - There was never any chance of Giroud or Batshuayi moving to Aston Villa on loan - Giroud will be leaving but only has six months left on his contract.}

1.) 07 Jan 2020 19:26:50
We can still sign them permently thou.

Tyrone Mings is suggesting that the England team learn the dark arts of defending.
Advice please keep it clean but again painful.
Both for national team and AVFC.
I don't accept his incident in the Austria game, a clear red.
A stronger no nonsense defence who own the ball is essential.
Last season leaked goals cost us many points.

Theoldvillan

04 Jun 2021 09:17:10
Not seen too much coverage of Mings block on the Austrian on Wednesday.
However it did happen and he was lucky to stay on the pitch if the vids are correct.
He makes a lot of errors but is improving as a C/ h but this type of defending is not very effective as red cards will follow.
We need solid back line, be it 2 or 3 or 4 across the back and they must own the ball.
Forget laying the ball off or a clever pass. If needed just clear the ball upfield or into the crowd and regroup.
Mings sometimes gives a great long ball but he has to pick the right time.
Another subject that causes the team a problem. Grealish not playing.
He certainly creates chaos for the opposition by being there but is his presence phsycological to us as well as the opposition.
With him not playing defenders feel easier and don't have to put 3 players in place to stop him.
But we have won without Grealish and this is where Deano should be pointing his team talk.
It is possible that we will be without our talisman so Deano must get the attitude of the team into the positive frame of mind.
Do the team really believe that Jack is essential for them to win?
I hope they dont.

29 May 2021 20:16:50
Just read that City are going to exercise the buy back for Douglas Luiz as they want to build up their midfield.
Could this be a lever to get us to part with Jack?
"If we get Grealish we won't buy Dougie back. "
Should Dougie go back we would have to look for a replacement for him.
This means that Deano and Lange will have another role to fill.
The summer should be quite exciting.

Theoldvillan

{Ed002's Note - No.}

1.) 29 May 2021 20:55:27
Where to you read this?

2.) 29 May 2021 21:24:24
It’s always News Now and their links, along with that story, someone I’ve never really considered came up, Harry Winks of Spuds, he’d be a decent Dougie replacement 🤔

UTV.

3.) 30 May 2021 09:53:15
Seems like we go over news now every couple of months😂.

4.) 30 May 2021 18:01:01
You try to ignore them Chris, but they keep pulling you back in.

22 May 2021 08:45:32
Has Barkley now been told that his time at Villa has come to an end?
Or following this incident his time has come to leave Villa?

Theoldvillan

1.) 22 May 2021 11:48:49
I think its just that his loan ends when the season finishes as was always the case and he's ineligible for the last game against his parent club so he's gone out on the beers now his season is over.
Don't really see what the big story is on this one.

2.) 22 May 2021 13:39:23
Yeah, totally agree DBS. Lad in his twenty's goes on the beer and is a bit of an ass to bar staff, hardly front page news. His season is over, he's on his holidays and wants to enjoy some beers, let him off. Sad that the season turned out the way it did for him but we will move on in the summer, going to be an interesting few months!

Well done Leicester City.
Could this be the start of midlands football rising?
Next it is our kids in the youth final.
Come on the kids.

Hi John,
It would appear that he has the same malaise re management that some of us have.
In the mid 50's a lad from Dudley was sent away from VP because he was a very big lad, and he was!
Played for England after a couple of years. Played for Man Utd.
His name Duncan Edwards.
Great loss after the Munich air crash in 1958.

WE have £24m from the monies stated for getting players into the squad.
Benrahma could be an option at a fare price if Franks would accept £24m.
Generally fees are ridiculous so one last push may secure a player that is/ was coveted by Deano and many on this site.
He is imaginative, quick and scores. What more do we want?
Watkin was a chance that proved right.
Surely worth a dip into the coffers.

Hello Dave, still believe in them especially after yesterday.
Where is the boss man at the back?
Find it all very depressing.
Our manager is failing all over the pitch.
He could have got the players he bought in for the price of drinks down the local.
Many of the players that were told to go could have still been with us when you compare what we have.
Abraham is what we need but alas .

I realise that other clubs are looking but he is a real C/ F.

Hi v4eva
You are speaking my language.
We have needed an arse kicker for a long time. Gives and takes.
Frequently a through ball goes past our defence and gives a strike to the opposition.
How many points have we lost from a winning position?
Not saying the stated style of player would stop that but he could reduce the threat by just being there.
Sorry for the woke error I stated "he" when it should have they.

Hi Dave,
Thought you might recognise my philosophy on hard quick defenders.
Stay well.
Keep your shin pads on mate.
